>
> In September 2013, Kultour piloted a national model for sector development utilizing culturally appropriate, deep-engagement methodologies. It was designed to bring groups of artists and artsworkers exploring cultural diversity within the frameworks of contemporary, multidisciplinary and experimental arts in Australia together with a range of provocateurs whose mission was to dissect, examine, expose, celebrate, challenge and inspire the practice. The platform for this was the Kultour National Gathering KG2013 Laboratory and Sector Forum 2013.
>
> "I want to make deep connections with diverse audiences who advocate for greater cultural inclusion and who, in turn, encourage the sustainability of my practice as an artist." Kultour Gathering 2013 Laboratory Participant.
>
> Held over a three-day period (2 day closed artist/provocateur laboratory followed by a public and sector outcome sharing/forum), the model provided a selected group of 19 artists and a representation of arts professionals across all art form areas with a unique opportunity to test concepts and explore new and innovative artistic frameworks where diversity of art form and culture inform the process and creative outcomes.
>
> "I want to experience the pleasure of working in a sector which truly reflects the make-up of our society but where one's ethnicity is of lesser significance than one's artistic practice." Kultour Gathering 2013 Laboratory Participant.
>
> With an emphasis on enquiry and knowledge sharing, the Kultour model provides a testing ground for new ideas in a supportive and inclusive environment; as well as strategies and opportunities for broadening pathways for audiences to a greater diversity of work.
>
> This special initiative for 2014 works to provide an opportunity and a space where all can be challenged and inspired at a local level, whilst contributing to the development of the national arts agenda.
>
> Applications close: 5.00pm Monday 21 July 2014.
